I’m interrupting the dating/relationship for a one time announcement -
I just got AADP certified as an Ayurvedic Counselor, which is essentially a functional nutritionist (I explain in more detail below). It’s not something I plan to do for work; but I feel passionate about people having this wisdom to feel incredible in their bodies. So I won’t bury the lead -
I’m offering two free Ayurveda appointments a week, for anyone who would like them.
Why Am I Doing This?
We accept so many ailments as normal, that are quite the opposite. It is not normal to have eczema, acne, headaches, bloating, gas, constipation, stomachaches, painful or irregular periods and be constantly tired. Our body doesn’t speak spoken English; it speaks to us through symptoms like this, trying to tell us that something is out of balance. Not only should we feel the absence of discomfort, but when we’re vibrantly healthy, we should feel energetic, vital, magnetic, fulfilled and at peace.
It drives me insane the extent to which being healthy has become a privilege of the wealthy. I say that because of how expensive it is to:
Drink clean water without PFAS in it
Breathe filtered air
Eat organic food with less pesticide contamination
Consume home cooked foods free of gums, fillers, natural flavorings, seed oils and sugar substitutes like corn syrup.
Buy household and body products without toxins
Access affordable medical care that includes proactive testing and screening
I want more people to have access to Ayurveda and I want to do everything I can to help people feel their absolute best. If we don’t feel well, we can’t show up to do amazing things in the world!
My Personal Health Journey
At 40, I feel physically better and more mentally clear than I ever thought was an option for me. I struggled with chronic lyme disease for almost a decade; multiple doctors told me that the absolute best case scenario that I could hope for was to manage my symptoms with antibiotics for the rest of my life, but I would never be cured. At the time I felt like I barely had a handle on the symptoms at all - even with IV injected antibiotics. I had extreme brain fog, and a flareup would leave me feeling flu-like and bedridden. Most terrifying of all; many of my symptoms were neurological and I would “black out” for a few seconds with no warning, leaving me dizzy and disoriented afterwards. I put “black out” in quotes because none of the neurologists I saw were ever able to tell me what was actually happening; only that it had left lesions on my brain visible on the MRI. I was spending all my extra money on doctors and treatments not covered by insurance. Finally, I hit a wall and I just refused to accept this as my reality anymore. I overhauled everything I was doing, got off all the antibiotics and over a period of 2-3 years I fully cured myself through a combination of functional health (like Ayurveda) & nutrition, intense cleansing with many, many colonics, ozone blood therapy, talk therapy and embodiment/ somatic work. I’ve been completely symptom free since 2019.
As with many tribulations, the experience gifted me so many things. I am more connected and attuned to my body and what it’s telling me. It has led me down infinite rabbit holes to better understand our food system, our healthcare system and ancient methods of healing that have been in use around the world for centuries. Taking care of others with that wisdom is one of the great joys of my life.
So back to Ayurveda - I wanted a training that would coalesce and formalize a lot of the knowledge I had gathered throughout my experience.
What is Ayurveda?
It is a medical science that can treat and heal the root cause of illness; it doesn’t just treat the symptoms.
It treats almost all ailments primarily through food and herbs. Even supplements are used sparingly, if at all. There is an emphasis on the importance of the mind, body, spirit connection, so treatment plans can also include breathwork, meditation practices and other forms of self care.
It quite literally the most ancient wisdom on the planet. It comes from the Vedas, Indian texts believed to be the oldest bodies of written knowledge in human history, about 4,000 years old.
Ayurveda recognizes the fundamental interconnectedness of all things and the essential role of consciousness in shaping our health and experience of reality.
Almost all ailments tie back to the digestive process in some way, so there is a huge emphasis on the microbiome, digestive strength and elimination (if you’re not going #2 at least once a day - let’s talk. If you’re not pooping, you’re not excreting the toxins we are all exposed to)
